What happens if my Annual ticket won't work in the machines?
- Annual and monthly rail Leapcards can be replaced by logging into your account on to www.leapcard.ie and selecting the 'Replace' option. Click here for more details.
- To request a replacement for a Dublin City Bus Taxsaver Leapcard just log in to your Leapcard account and select the “Refund or Replace“ option and follow the instructions to get a replacement. Make sure to choose the Replace option. Do not select the refund option. It is recommended that all employees register their leapcard at www.leapcard.ie. Click here for more details.
- Bus Éireann Only Leap Cards can be replaced by logging into your Leap Card Account at www.leapcard.ie. What happens if my ticket is lost or stolen?
- Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail annual and monthly Leapcards which are lost or stolen can be replaced as follows;
Customer logs into their account on to www.leapcard.ie , selecting the “Refund or Replace“ option, following the instructions to get a replacement card. - Bus Éireann Leap Cards can be replaced by logging into your Leap Card Account at www.leapcard.ie. Can I buy a monthly or annual ticket and then claim the tax back from the Revenue Commissioners?
No, all TaxSaver monthly and annual tickets must be purchased by the company on behalf of the employee as per Revenue guidelines.
Are TaxSaver Commuter Tickets transferable?
No, TaxSaver Tickets cannot be transferred to another person, as they can only be used by the individual who received the tax benefit.
What happens if an employee leaves or is dismissed from their position while the TaxSaver Commuter Ticket is still valid?
It depends on the arrangement reached with the employer - an employee may keep the ticket or may be required to return it.
Are there any fixed dates on which tickets are valid?
Monthly tickets are valid for one calendar month, while annual tickets are valid for one year commencing from the first day of any month.
Is sacrificing salary the only way for an employee to get a TaxSaver Commuter Ticket?
No. The ticket can also be provided in lieu of a cash bonus, for example as a Christmas bonus, and because the ticket is tax free, it provides much better value than a cash bonus.
