How Taxsaver works?
The Taxsaver scheme is a fantastic way to keep your employees happy, saving them money each month on their commute and freeing up Car Parking spaces!
Annual and Monthly Tickets
1. Conditions of Carriage
All tickets remain the property of Iarnród Éireann/Dublin Bus/Bus Éireann and Luas and are subject to the company's conditions of carriage and Customer Charter.
2. General Conditions
- Tickets are non transferable. Only the person named on the ticket/card may use it for travel. It cannot be resold or used by anyone else.
- Tickets remain the property of Iarnród Éireann/Dublin Bus/Bus Éireann/Luas and must be presented at any time during the journey or at any time if requested by an authorised employee of Iarnród Éireann/Dublin Bus/Bus Éireann/Luas.
- Customers failing to produce their tickets should purchase a daily ticket before travelling to cover the travel journey and subsequent claims for refund will not be entertained. If you are found on board a train or arrive at a station without a valid ticket, and have boarded where facilities where provided, you will then be issued with a fixed penalty notice.
- Loss or theft of your Annual ticket should be reported to us as soon as possible by contacting our office on 1850211777. A replacement fee of €15.00 will apply for some ticket types.
Cancelling Annual Tickets
Iarnród Éireann/Dublin Bus
- Please note that Annual products are based on a 10 month rate, with two months free and this discount is withdrawn if the ticket is cancelled so the refund/credit is based on the regular monthly rate by the number of months used.
- Company Administrators must contact the relevant travel provider prior to cancelling an employees ticket; see below contact details;

- Bus Éireann: taxsaver@buseireann.ie
- If you cancel your DART/Commuter Rail, Dublin City Bus Only, Short Hop Rail & Dublin City Bus, Rail & Luas or Dublin City Bus & Luas ticket/card before ten months have expired then you may be due a refund on your ticket.
- If you cancel your Point-Point Intercity ticket before ten months have expired then you may be due a refund.
- Annual Tickets purchased through the Taxsaver Commuter Scheme normally have employer conditions that can vary from company to company. It is advisable to seek clarification with your company administrator before seeking a refund.
- Refunds on Annual Tickets will be calculated as follows: The cost of the appropriate Monthly Ticket multiplied by the number of months used is deducted from the amount paid for the Annual Ticket. There is no administration fee involved
- Monthly tickets - Cancellation of unused monthly passes must be made by the 5th of the month, for which the ticket is to be cancelled. Any passes used, at any time, during or after the 1st of that month will not be refunded. There are no partial refunds on Monthly passes.
- Annual cancellations must be made by the 5th of the month, with no usage, at any time, during or after the 1st of that month.
Bus Éireann
- Your Annual Point to Point Ticket must be returned to Bus Éireann Taxsaver Section no later than the 5th of the month or that month will be deducted from refund/credit.
- Your Bus Éireann Taxsaver Leapcard may be kept for personnal use or for other Travel Operators' Taxsaver Schemes. If this is the case, please ask your company administrator to e-mail taxsaver@buseireann.ie to block your product no later than the 5th of the month or that month will be deducted from refund/credit if the product is unused for that month.
- Annual Refunds are calculated by taking the sum of the: (original cost, divided by ten, multiplied by the number of months used), from the original cost. Please note there is no refund after 9 months use.
- It is advisable to seek clarification with your company administrator before your company seeks a refund on your behalf. All refunds are sent to the Employer only
- There is no refund given to Replacement Annual Point to Point Tickets that were lost, stolen or destroyed during their validity.
